In 2016, three groups (ATD Fourth World, Dole Animators and Thrive Teesside) worked with a graphic designer (Dan Farley) and a researcher (Ruth Patrick) to explore solutions to the problems of poverty and insecurity in the UK. The project drew upon the expertise that comes from experience, with group members having experience of poverty and out-of-work benefits receipt.
Each group came up with a visual illustration of the solutions they identified, with the group members themselves being involved in the design work and graphic decisions.
The illustrations were launched at the House of Commons on 6th July. The launch event was hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty and the project was supported by the Webb Memorial Trust.
